What is so good about this Chocolate Chip Brookie? It's part fudgy brownie, part chocolate chip cookies, and 100% goodness. This delicious recipe is simple and easy to make.
It is the ultimate dessert. They are decadent, delicious, rich, and the perfect dessert for any summer function this time of year. The one thing that makes them perfect for parties and summer get-togethers is that they are great to serve at room temperature.
This recipe uses simple ingredients.

You can make these homemade brookies from scratch as I did, but if you are short on time, you can use boxed cookie mix and boxed brownie mix to make these. Or you can use your favorite brownie recipe to make this dish.

How to Make the Best Brookie Recipe
For this Chocolate Chip Brookie, you need the following ingredients —
Part Brownie layer
- Butter
- Unsweetened cocoa powder
- Eggs
- Sugar
- Flour
- Vanilla extract
Chocolate chip cookie layer
- Unsalted Butter
- Regular Sugar
- Brown Sugar
- Eggs
- Baking Soda
- Salt
- Flour
- Chocolate Chips

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray. You can use parchment paper if you want. I have done it both ways.
For the brownie layer
in a large bowl, stir the sugar, eggs, vanilla, and melted butter together.
Now, add in the cocoa, all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder. Use a wooden spoon or silicone spatula to mix well.
Pour the brownie batter evenly into the bottom of the pan.
For the best decadent brownies, check out my recipe for Lunch Lady Brownies or Sourdough Discard Brownies.
For the Chewy Chocolate Chip cookie layer
Beat the sugars, butter, and vanilla together in a medium bowl until well combined. Now, add in the egg and mix well.

Use a wooden spoon to mix in the baking powder, salt, and all-purpose flour. Slowly fold in the chocolate chips.
Drop the cookie batter by spoonfuls on top of the brownie batter. Spread it as evenly as you can with an offset spatula. Don't worry if it doesn't cover the whole thing.
Bake for 45 minutes or do the toothpick test and insert it in the center to see if it comes out clean and the cookie dough layer is golden brown.
Once the brookie has cooled completely, cut and enjoy! Serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for extra flavor. This is one of my favorite desserts I have made in a while.
Put leftovers in an airtight container. The brookie can be kept for about a week. Next time you need an easy dessert, use this one to share with all your family and friends.
Additions or Other Flavors
For this recipe, you can totally make a skillet cookie and top it with the brownie. You could also take this recipe and turn it into chocolate chip brownie swirl cookies.
