Alabama White Sauce

Sharing is caring!

You are going to flip over this delicious Alabama white sauce. It is a famous sauce that is full of amazing tangy and creamy flavors. You will be craving this sauce more than you will regular bbq sauce.

I love a good tangy sauce to dip my chicken in. When I make bbq at home, I always have some kind of sauce available for dipping. In the past, I have made Eel Sauce, which is great to dip chicken or sushi in. Then, I have made homemade sweet and sour sauce, which I use for dipping my Chinese chicken in.

And of course, there is regular homemade bbq sauce. But, none top this delicious Alabama White Sauce that I discovered on my last trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama.

What is Alabama White Sauce?

Originally created in Alabama and unlike a traditional barbecue sauce recipe, this Alabama white sauce is made with vinegar and mayonnaise base along with a handful of other simple ingredients. This famous white BBQ sauce recipe was discovered at Big Bob Gibson’s Bar-B-Q and created by Robert Gibson.

This sauce reminds me of coleslaw mix. It is made very similar but has a couple of other ingredients in it that coleslaw mix does not.

For this recipe, you will need —

2 cups mayonnaise
½ cup apple cider vinegar
2 Tablespoons lemon juice
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons ground black pepper
1~ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 teaspoons horseradish

Then, just throw all the ingredients in a large mason jar. Put the lid on and shake to mix well. Now, place it in the refrigerator and let it sit for one hour before serving.

Serve this sauce on my Air Fryer Ranch Chicken Wings, Marinated Grilled Skirt Steak, Coffee Crusted Steaks, or these delicious Grilled Pork Chops.
