Grilled peaches with vanilla ice cream is a delicious summer dessert you can make! Peaches are one of my favorite summer fruits and can be used in so many amazing ways.
I love grilling season and peach season! I don't know about you but you will find me somewhere in front of a grill of some kind during the Spring and Summer. And when I have fresh peaches on hand, I love grilling them up for dessert.
The cool thing when you think about grilling is that you don't always have to use an outdoor grill.
An indoor grill pan like a cast iron grill pan works great, especially if it is hot outside or you have a fun recipe that makes a perfect summer dessert like these Grilled Peaches with Vanilla Ice Cream.
How to Make Grilled Peaches
Grilled peach halves are simple and easy to make. This is the perfect dessert on a hot day — or any day for that matter. If the peaches are in season, that makes it even better because they are super sweet and when grilled, it brings out the natural sugars in them. If you have never tried grilling peaches, this is your cue to do so.
Freestone peaches are the best peaches to use. The pit comes out so easily with no fuss or mess. A lot of the stone fruit you find have a difficult time removing the pit.
For this recipe, start with simple ingredients. Slice your ripe peaches in half and remove the pits. Now, drizzle a little olive oil on them to keep them from sticking. Then, sprinkle on some Smoky Honey BBQ Seasoning from Rainier Foods. I know you must be thinking — bbq seasoning? But trust me when I tell you that this seasoning took these peaches over the top.
It reminds me a lot of Tajin and people eat that stuff on fruit all the time. The difference is this has more of a bbq flavor, and it really enhances the flavor of the peaches. You can use a little brown sugar on top if you prefer.
Heat a grill pan on medium heat and spray with non-stick cooking spray. Let the peaches cook for about 5-7 minutes on the hot grill. You will see nice grill marks on the juicy peaches and they will be warmed through.
If you want a criss cross pattern, just give the peaches a half turn on the grill. It will make the dish look more elegant.
Remove from the pan and place on a plate. Top the grilled peach half with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. You can find my no churn vanilla ice cream recipe here. My favorite part is a drizzle of honey, caramel sauce, or maple syrup over the top of the peaches.
Serving Grilled Peaches
The scoop of ice cream will melt as it warms and mixed with the peaches and the seasoning, it is pure bliss on a plate. If you want a healthier version, skip the ice cream and use greek yogurt instead. Another great option is reducing some balsamic vinegar to drizzle over the top also. That would really elevate this dish. Sprinkle some fresh mint leaves or a sprinkle of sea salt over the top also.
Of course, you can also do this on a gas grill or a charcoal grill outside if you prefer, but indoor grilling is just as fun.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
